Dark Whispers Challenge - Georgia O'Keeffe

I never knew that there were some darker works done by Georgia O'Keeffe. They are as interesting as her landscapes and flowers.

The Dark Whispers group, a group within Digital Whispers, was asked to create a collage done in the style of Georgia O'Keeffe. Several of her paintings were supplied that we could use in our collage should we choose to do so. Here is what I created:

I hope it isn't too creepy! I created the colored, desert background in Illustrator, and then layered some of her works on top using Photoshop.

Steampunk Daniel

This was the last project in our steampunk class. I collaged a photo of Daniel Ratcliffe unto the canvas, and then painted over it. I'm definitely not as good of a painter as this appears! I'm happy with the results, although I see several parts I should work on more. I have to put it up for a while and get to work on lessons for Life Book 2013, though. I do have to say, I sure love steampunk!

Dark Whispers Challenge March - Frida Kahlo

Dark Whispers is a group inside of Digital Whispers where deeper, more emotional and darker subjects are chosen to illustrate. This month's challenge was to create an illustration using colors Frida Kahlo would use in a way to represent her life. I used the colors cobalt blue, red, black, and leaf green. The red and slight orange variations definitely portray the pain she experienced in her life. Having the monkey being cobalt blue and steampunk gives it a kind of nightmarish feeling. Frida included a monkey in several of her paintings. The green leaf symbolizes the life she wanted but had cut way too short.

The monkey was from a steampunk kit by Holliewood. The heart from an anatomical kit by Tangie Baxter. The background by Paci.
