Word For 2014

I have a difficult time just letting go and enjoying creating art. I chose "accept" to be my word for the year, because I need to accept my imperfections and just be happy with what I am able to do. No one is perfect. There is no sense in trying to reach the impossible. The funny creature is from Tangie Baxter's Art Journal Caravan 2014 basic kit.

  1. I think that is great, Bill! As artists, we always struggle with the inner critic! What a battle it is sometimes, hmmm? But I used to work for a rather eccentric man who would always say to me, "Betty, always remember: Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." I thought it didn't make a lot of sense until I realized what it really meant! Don't over-think, over-analyze, over-criticize to the point where you aren't able to finish what you are trying to accomplish! And now I realize, he used to tell me that so much because he was trying to practice what he preached!

    Wishing you a good evening,

    Betty

  3. Acceptance is one of the hardest things to do, believe me, I know.
I was always a bit of a free spirit, walking, running, jumping, dancing, flowing.....you get the picture.
To have to accept my many limitations is still so hard to bear....xx
