Corben Playing Piano and Dancing

Uncle Dan is holding Corben, and Corben is going to town. He not only plays the piano, but dances, too! (That really is Corben trying to dance. Dan isn't doing it.)

Look sharp, mateys!

No, I didn't create this picture. Although, I do have fleeting urges to jump on a pirate ship and sail away looking for rum and treasure. June Yarham must have decided I look like one of Johnny Depp's long lost relatives, and raised me to the rank of Captain of my own ship. I'm afraid I need to smell a little more and perhaps imbibe in a couple of bottles before I have that deep down skanky look,  but I'm to the task!

My Picture From Seth Apter's Blog

I had a request to put the picture here that Seth Apter included in his post yesterday on his Altered Page blog. I had posted it on my previous blog in Artellaland, but wasn't thinking that many of you may not have seen it. This is one my most favorite digital pictures I have ever done (hmm, that sounds like improper English), because it includes grunge, steampunk and a little zetti. I know. Shut up already and post the stupid picture!

My Royal Invitation

I am very happy to say the least! My invitation to the Royal Wedding has finally arrived. I knew Prince William had been an admirer of my digital art for quite some time, but I did not really expect it was enough to receive an invitation to the wedding. Now I will have to purchase something appropriate to wear. This should be quite a thrilling experience!

Art Journal Caravan - February - Letter I

I'm never going to get the whole alphabet done this month, but I'll keep on going anyway. Here's letter I:

Seth Apter's "Collectors Edition"

This should be fun. I'm going to be one of the people featured on Seth Apter's blog tomorrow. The only thing is, whatever "collection" picture I sent to him is going to be as big of a surprise to me as it is to you. I don't remember it at all! Seth said we sent the pictures/info back in November of 2009, so I guess it isn't surprising I forget. If you would like to visit his blog tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, here is the link: The Altered Page. See you there.

A Little Bit of Bravery

Well, I decided I'd show a little bit of bravery, and let you see the "gut art" painting I'm working on for Mystele's Gut Art class I'm taking at Little Glimpses Studio on Ning. I'm going to become a real multi-media artist if it kills me!

Here is my painting after I put everything together as the base layer:

This is what it looks like right now. I know it looks like somebody, um, well, maybe threw-up, but we are suppose to work on our paintings in "layers" and from the gut.

Yes, I know it's strange, but I've had a strange gut for years! But hey, I like outsider art. I've felt like an outsider for most of my life. Anyway, I will post an update as I keep working on it.

Little Boy Blue

I often mention my fellow friend in weirdness, insanity, art, and whatever ever else can be considered strange in this world, Marguerite Bryant, in posts on my blog. Yesterday she outdid herself. (Well, she just about outdoes herself every day, but . . . )

I sent a butterfly I created to the special project being sponsored by the Holocaust Museum in Houston. Each butterfly will represent one of the 1,500,000 innocent children who lost their lives in the holocaust. Marguerite joined me and others like Seth Apter and sent in a butterfly, too. However, she was so moved by the purpose of the project, that M (as we affectionately call her) is creating a butterfly every day for an entire year. She even created a special blog so we could see her daily creations.

Yesterday she created this butterfly:

Isn't that the cutest little butterfly you have ever seen? Oh! That just happens to be my grandson Corben. Wow! (I bet you knew that was coming.)

You really should visit Marguerites blog and see all of the other butterflies she has already made. Just click here to go to her blog:  http://mybutterflyyear.blogspot.com/ Corben was day 63, so you have 62 other butterflies you can enjoy looking at.

If you would like to read more about the butterfly project, just click here: http://hmh.org/ed_butterfly1.shtml Anyone with any artistic inclination should participate!

Have a great art day!

Make Your Own Path

For my friend June in England who, after reading my last post, suggested turning the page and not looking back! (June creates beautiful digital collages, and if you'd like to visit her blog, click here: http://junibearsjottings.blogspot.com/

The forest picture was taken by my online friend Lani Gerity. She offers some wonderful classes that help artists work through issues like gaining resilience using art. She also posts beautiful altered photos. You may visit her blog by clicking here: http://lanipuppetmaker.blogspot.com/

Oh! I almost forgot! She also created the font I used in the lower right corner of the picture.

Art Journal Caravan - February Letter F

After all the prissy Marie stuff I've posted the last couple of days, I felt the need to post a real manly journaling page. I believe I succeeded by going back and doing the letter F page I missed. You ladies who visit may not find this at all appealing. I, however, enjoyed creating it quite thoroughly!

My Work in a Book

I am a member of the Ning group Digital Whisper. We are a group of digital artists who enjoy participating in weekly digital challenges. Our dear hostess, Kimmie, collected some of our work, and created the most beautiful art book through Blurb. Here is the link if you would like to see it: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1952419?ce=blurb_ew&utm_source=widget

Being the wonderfully kind person I am, I am going to cheat and let you see my page in the book. I think we are proving that digital art can be a beautiful art form.

Three Muses Challenge - Black and White

Well, this is the real weather forecast for Michigan where we live for tonight and tomorrow. We could get 10 to 15 inches of snow. Egads!!!!!

Question

I've really got to get my medication for depression changed! But for now, it makes for some pretty insane poetry!
