Take A Word Challenge - Season

My family does not celebrate Christmas, so my take of "the season" is probably different than that of many people. :O) (Some elements by Fiddlette Designs and Studio Lalie Designs. Dog and Billizetti characters by me.)

Why?

It is not a case of God doesn't care, or it's God's way of getting more angels, or we just can't understand God's ways. His word the Bible plainly gives the answer as to why terrible things are happening in the world.

The fact that so many horrible things are increasing and happening all over the earth are proof that we are living in the time that God will shortly step in and do something about the wicked people and the ruler of this world, Satan. The way people are acting today was foretold to happen during the "last days."

"But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."                                                                                        2 Timothy 3: 1 - 5

God has even told us what he will do at his appointed time:

All of us should be looking forward to that time when God shortly brings about the fulfillment of his prophecy, the end of these last days.

Lani Gerity said we need to "play" on her blog, so I did! She had the quote on her blog, too. It's by George Bernard Shaw.

Art Journal Caravan 2013 Starting Soon!

I decided to join the Art Journal Caravan again. I love the weekly journaling prompts and the new digital elements that surprise us each month. The elements in the digital collage below are by Lori Davison, and are included in the 2013 welcome kit. The old man is by me. I'm definitely not that old, but some days I feel like it! :O)

If anyone wants to join me this year, the Art Journal Caravan is found at scrapbookgraphics.com and is created by Tangie Baxter. By the way, she didn't pay me to write that. :)

Wild, Crazy, Colorful Mixed-media Artist

Associating online with people like Seth Apter and Tamara Laporte has finally given me the courage to just let go and be the wild, crazy, colorful mixed-media artist I want to be. While what I'm doing might not be everyone's taste, it sure brings me fun!

The Three Muses Challenge - Gothic Arch

This is probably a little bit different than what The Three Muses was suggesting when they said create something with a gothic arch and with red in it, but it's where my muse led me.

I Love Paris

Every time I look down on this timeless town
whether blue or gray be her skies.
Whether loud be her cheers or soft be her tears,
more and more do I realize:

I love Paris in the springtime.
I love Paris in the fall.
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles,
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles.

I love Paris every moment,
every moment of the year.
I love Paris, why, oh why do I love Paris?
Because my love is near.

LifeBook 2012 Nov - Celebrating Successes

This week's lesson was about painting a stylized mermaid. It was suppose to be swimming upward to represent swimming up toward success. Sounds a little fishy to me, but whatever. Here's my finished painting. Yep, it's a little weird, but at least it's a real painting. I tried to make the mermaid long and willowy looking like the seaweed. Oh. Since the idea was to celebrate our own personal success, I had to paint a merman instead of a mermaid. You can't really tell the difference anyway. I need to practice painting mermaids!

Life Book 2012 Week 45 - Celebration

I've used my character "Billizetti" in a lot of my digital art. I created many different versions of him using Photoshop. In celebration of reaching November and having done 17 mixed media paintings to put into my Life Book, I painted Billizetti by hand for the first time. It seemed fitting to finally create a mixed media version of him. Yay!

Friendship Journaling Challenge

This is my good friend Marquerite Bryant. We met through Artella on the Internet. Elements from Tangie's Parcel #44.

My Artwork On Seth Apter's Blog On Sunday

Seth Apter sent me an email saying he is posting a piece of my artwork on his blog this Sunday, November 11. It was part of an art project that went along with his book The Pulse of Mixed Media. Seth took selected pieces of the project with him to display at his many book signing stops. That way people could look at real pieces of mixed media art firsthand. I hope you will be able to stop by his blog on Sunday. http://thealteredpage.blogspot.com/

(If you haven't purchased his book yet, I have an Amazon link for it on the right hand column of my blog so you can check it out.)

Three Muses Challenge - Mask

Gift from the Fairy Yellow Bug Queen

A fellow blogger and artist, Norma Conway, sent me a wonderful little painting she did on tea bags. I couldn't figure out how to display it, so I put it on an 11 x 14 canvas, and painted around it. It probably looks a little bizarre, because I like abstract art. To me it sort of has an American Indian look to it. Since I don't have a digital camera, I had to take a photo of the finished piece using my computer camera. It does not do the painting justice at all. Maybe once I get my iPad, which will have a much better camera in it, I'll be able to take better photos of my work. Anyway, thank you, Norma, for the fantastic gift.

Friendship and A Favorite Song

Based on November's "My Vision for 2012" prompt by Julie Ann Shahin - Friendship. She posts on Tangie Baxter's blog for The Art Journal Caravan. Elements from kit "No Strings Attached" by OTBDS, background by me.

A prompt from the weekly Caravan  itinerary was to list 5 favorite songs. I could never do a page about 5 songs. I did one about one of my favorite songs.
