Kawaii Mixed-Media Painting With Haiku

This is the mixed-media painting I finished for the Week 2 and Week 3 sessions of my class "I Don't Want To Grow Up." Week 2 is about kawaii art and Week 3 is about haiku.

Mixed-Media Collage

I've been spending a lot more time creating with mixed-media. It's so much fun when you let go and don't worry about the results. I had some real Paris ephemera, and decided to do a Paris collage. The dried rose petals and leaves are from a bouquet from my mother's funeral. I hope they will last a while.

Life Book 2013 - Week 1 - Part 2

For part two of the first week in the year long Life Book course, we were suppose to create a painting (mixed-media) that was celebrating the start of our new journey for 2013. It was suppose to look a little silly and happy while traveling down a road. Well, I always seem to accomplish silly! :O) We were suppose to include a couple of goals and things we were thankful for. Even though this wasn't a serious mixed-media assignment, it was very satisfying to do.

Wild, Crazy, Colorful Mixed-media Artist

Associating online with people like Seth Apter and Tamara Laporte has finally given me the courage to just let go and be the wild, crazy, colorful mixed-media artist I want to be. While what I'm doing might not be everyone's taste, it sure brings me fun!

Pink Saturday - An Autumn Welcome

I posted this mixed-media painting a few days early, but wanted to do it while I had the time.

This may be crazy looking, but it's very fulfilling when I'm able to do physical art instead of digital art for a change. I wish I could figure out how to get my paintings to photograph better, though. You never get to really see the sparkle in the paintings. I'm afraid I like glitter. Man. I should never admit that, especially on a Pink Saturday!  :O)

Be sure to visit Beverly's How Sweet The Sound where you will find links to the blogs of all the participants who joined in for this week's Pink Saturday.

Life Book Class Continues

This project turned out rather funny, but I actually like what I ended up with. It made me laugh, and I'm finally learning it's okay to laugh at our own work. The end result isn't the healing part; it's the process that counts. I'm still learning how to work with mixed-media. The assignment was to put a "transfer" of a picture of ourselves on a piece of watercolor paper, paint over it adding some craziness to it, and then copy a list of words we were given. I've tried transfers before, and have never gotten them to work. But to my great surprise, this one actually worked! I wanted to stop right there. I was so excited! But I went ahead and followed the assignment. (I'm going to do another transfer and do something leaving the transfer as is.) Here is the result. Live long and prosper!
