This should be interesting! Susan (Artangel) from http://artangelix.blogspot.com/ is starting a year long art project that other artists can join in on. If you click on the link, you can go to her blog and read all the details. I'm not joining as an official member, but she mentions playing along as "arting without a commitment." That's my kind of project - no commitment to put pressure on. I really want to get back to creating physical art instead of digital collages all the time. This sounds like the kind of project to motivate me to do that.
The first step is finding and decorating a suitcase or travel trunk to house the year's art treasures you create. It just so happens I rescued a small trunk from our neighbor's garbage. It's been sitting in the garage for over a year. Wow. How does one start decorating a trunk? It has that moldy, dusty, old smell that permeates all good antique discoveries. Maybe I'll try painting the entire inside first. It seems like that should capture the smell. I'll keep you informed on my progress!

WOW, a suitcase or a trunk full of art in a year. Sounds like quite an ambitious project. The trunk itself sounds like an ambitious project, now that I think of it! I can't wait to see your progress.

Go for it Bill! The no-pressure part is great and there's nothing like handling physical materials. I started a collage-a-day project in honor of my 60th birthday last April, there have been many times since when I ask myself, "What was I thinking?!?" Especially since I have a full time job too. I was doing some digital things earlier in the project but I'm not good enough yet at digital and it was taking too long, so all my stuff since is good old cut-and-paste. I like the suitcase idea--it will become a Treasure Chest over the coming 12 months. And the grandkids of that cute little guy in your photos, will look through many years hence, and be so proud of their artistic ancestor! Have fun!!
