I wrote this after reading a poem by Paul Andrew Russell. You may find it here: http://www.paulandrewrussell.com/?p=1143 His work is always so beautiful that I feel like it is senseless for me to even try to write anything. Oh well.
Dear William, your thoughts are grand and always worth reading. I don't aspire to be a poet or even a writer but I put down on paper words I feel in my heart and I know you do the same. If we all spoke truly from the heart, the world might just be a better place.... I love your page by the way. Hugs xx
I just wanted to say thank you for liking my writing. One of the reasons I first started putting my work up online was because I wanted to meet other like minded people, like yourself, who would read and maybe enjoy what I'd written.
I felt so intimidated at first by what I read by other people. Then I began to understand it's not what you write, it's what you put of yourself into your work, that personal something that no one else possesses, that makes every piece of work special. I have written some really terrible verse, but it's my verse, and a part of me. I even groan sometimes when I read it but it's just another facet of who I am, so I usually leave it up there. After all, I did write it.
I like your above poem. It's original and from the heart, I can see that just by reading it. That's what I'm talking about; it's the feeling that counts.
Do you know why I visit your blog William? Because I love your art and words.
touched me emotionally. As I said in the comments , it took me right back to my childhood. It was an emotional reaction; it made me feel good inside just by seeing it.
I can not paint or draw at all, and if the truth be told I'm envious of artists and their natural talent. I wasn't given that talent. But I was given a love of reading at an early age. I read and read and read, and now I guess some of those words are leaking out again.
I hope you keep writing, William. I enjoy your work. I'm so pleased I came across your blog. It brightens my day coming here, truly. :-)
Your inner critic has to take a break, dear friend. Says Erich Fromm: "let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be... Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you'll live as you've never lived before". Just enjoy your journey, pal!

'nuff said. Thoughtful prose, great composition.
