Corben and His Art Work
Our grandson Corben loves drawing. Unfortunately, that includes drawing on any empty wall he finds. This is in our kitchen.

Our Sick Little Guy
The only thing worse than being sick yourself is having a sick little person who doesn't even understand what is going on. Our grandson Corben was the first one to be hit with the norovirus a week and a half ago. He's fine now. One thing about those little tykes is they bounce back really quick. (Unlike us old folks who are left feeling exhausted for days.) I wanted to share a picture of Corben when he was in Emergency the day he couldn't stop vomiting. He looks so pitiful and cute at the same time.
He's running around today getting into everything and driving us nuts, so everything is back to normal. :O)

Rylan at Six Months
Our second grandchild, Rylan, is growing fast! I have to share one of his latest pictures. Being the grandfather, and rather prejudiced, I think he is pretty darn cute. It's amazing how different he looks from his 13 month old cousin, Corben.
Here's a recent picture of Corben:
Both of the boys love to smile!

Art Journal Caravan Week 39 - Quote
As the stock markets all over the world keep going up and down, it's a good time to remember that it isn't money that will make us happy. Since my family has never had lots of money to worry about (usually just enough to pay the bills), it's a good thing!
(Frida figure by Christine Honsinger, but I altered her a little bit.)
Here's a new picture of one of our little blessings:

Corben Learns to Vacuum
How time flies! Our little guy is already learning to vacuum. He didn't want to stop.
Can't wait until I can teach him how to load the dishwasher! And to think he only just turned one year old!

Corben Playing With Doll
My great online friend, Marguerite, made an angel doll with a music box in it for our grandson Corben when he was born. This is a video of him playing with it today.

Our Little Guy
What kind of a grandfather am I? I haven't posted any pictures of our little guy in a while.
Poor little guy always gets stuck going shopping with his mom and grandma. I guess it's a good thing he doesn't seem to mind his car seat.

Corben Playing Piano and Dancing
Uncle Dan is holding Corben, and Corben is going to town. He not only plays the piano, but dances, too! (That really is Corben trying to dance. Dan isn't doing it.)

Little Boy Blue
I often mention my fellow friend in weirdness, insanity, art, and whatever ever else can be considered strange in this world, Marguerite Bryant, in posts on my blog. Yesterday she outdid herself. (Well, she just about outdoes herself every day, but . . . )
I sent a butterfly I created to the special project being sponsored by the Holocaust Museum in Houston. Each butterfly will represent one of the 1,500,000 innocent children who lost their lives in the holocaust. Marguerite joined me and others like Seth Apter and sent in a butterfly, too. However, she was so moved by the purpose of the project, that M (as we affectionately call her) is creating a butterfly every day for an entire year. She even created a special blog so we could see her daily creations.

Isn't that the cutest little butterfly you have ever seen? Oh! That just happens to be my grandson Corben. Wow! (I bet you knew that was coming.)
You really should visit Marguerites blog and see all of the other butterflies she has already made. Just click here to go to her blog: http://mybutterflyyear.blogspot.com/ Corben was day 63, so you have 62 other butterflies you can enjoy looking at.
If you would like to read more about the butterfly project, just click here: http://hmh.org/ed_butterfly1.shtml Anyone with any artistic inclination should participate!
Have a great art day!

Life's Unexpected Curves
Sometimes life throws us curves without any warning. Corben, our 3 1/2 week old grandson, spent 4 hours in Emergency last night. He was having a difficult time breathing, and at one point even looked blue. He laid there like he was dead. He couldn't even cry. Talk about being a heart stopper! This was all at home before my wife and daughter rushed him to the hospital. After that, I was home alone, and called our other children to let them know what was going on. I thought for sure I would be receiving a call from my wife saying he had died. I was so nervous waiting at home that I could barely concentrate enough to pray for God's help. The scariest part was and is that there is a whooping cough outbreak in the county we live in. Babies are very susceptible to whooping cough. The strange part was, Corben hadn't been coughing, and as far as we know, hadn't been exposed to it.
To make a long story short, Corben is fine. The doctor in the Emergency Department had to suction out mucous and, pardon the expression, baby throw-up. Somehow all of his passage ways had become completely clogged up. The doctor showed our daughter what to do in case it happened again during the night. He took an x-ray just to be sure nothing was going on in his lungs. Corben came home alert and looked like nothing had ever happened. What a relief! It's incredible how much you can love a little baby after such a short time in your life. Life is such a miracle! To me, watching a baby be born and become a little person is absolute proof that there is a God.
