A Beetle

Wyanne Thompson is teaching us how to paint on "claybord." (That's the correct way to spell it.) We worked on colorful beetles. :-)

Ocean Waves

I've always loved the ocean! I wish we could live near one. I decided to try using the joint compound technique we learned in Wyanne's "Making It Big" class to create a painting celebrating the waves in the ocean. I love the texture it made.

New Painting

This is the second painting I've done for Wyanne Thompson's "Making It Big" class. We are still using the Lightweight Wallboard Joint Compound. It really makes a lot of texture!

Painting With Joint Compound As A Base

The first lesson in Wyanne Thompson's You and Me Painting Big class was about using Lightweight Wallboard Joint Compound as a layer for building texture in your painting. I wanted to try doing a painting of my Billizetti character. (The little guy in my blog header.) I've only done him digitally and wanted to try making a physical copy. This is how it turned out. Crazy but fun! Definitely anime and kawaii style.

Be sure to click the painting to see the larger size where you can see the ridges from the joint compound.

Playing With Wyanne's New Hair Colors

Wyanne Thompson

I just finished an 11 month class taught by Wyanne Thompson. She is such an inspiring person. She survived a severe case of throat cancer, and her attitude on life is so encouraging. I didn't do much of the painting she taught as I didn't have a lot of the materials she used. But we have lifetime access to the videos, so I'll be going back many times to revisit her techniques. It seems so sad now that the class is over! I created a digital collage with a picture of her for memory's sake. :-)

Nature's Influence

I created this in one of my art journals. It was influenced by classes by Wyanne Thompson and Mindy Lacefield.
