Community Thrive November Challenge - Leaves.

I already posted a picture I created for this challenge. But I love trees and leaves so much I decided I would do a real mixed-media piece, too. I wish I could get it to photograph better. I just have the camera on my phone, though, and it never captures the colors correctly. I'm not a fan of winter, mainly because we have so many gray days here in Michigan. I wanted to create the real feeling and colors of fall. It may look like a mess to you, but it looks much better in real life. After painting and collaging the background, I added real leaves that I had let dry and then put a coat of clear gesso on. Hopefully that will keep them from falling apart. When I can get to the store, I'm going to buy some spray acrylic sealant to cover the piece with. Happy Fall!

Great job, Bill! We can never have enough color here in these cold and grey parts of the country, right? I love that you added the chocolate bar wrappers!! We find a few bites of chocolate keep our winter blahs away too!!

I love this! The feather is awesome. It reminds me of my dad, who used to pick up colored leaves and feathers in the Michigan forest near his home in Gregory, and then he would make them into these beautiful bouquets that he would have on my desk whenever I came home for a visit.

This doesn't look like a mess to me at all. I think it is a beautiful melange of colors and textures! Keep on with the mixed media I say!
