Flowers - Father's Funeral
I can only think of a couple of "nice" things that happen at funerals. My father's funeral was this past Saturday April 22. He would have turned 88 on the 28 th. of this month. As difficult as it is to say goodbye to loved ones, it is nice to see friends and family that you haven't visited with in too long of a time. It reaffirms friendships and family relationships.
I'm not sure where the custom of sending flowers came from, but it is always nice to see the beautiful flowers. Maybe they serve as a reminder that for the rest of us, life goes on along with all it entails. I took a picture of the arrangement my wife had made to serve as a reminder of that day.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
I am creating digital artwork for Marney Makridakis. She is the author of the book Creating Time - Using Creativity to Reinvent the Clock and Reclaim Your Life. Marney is also the founder of Artella. She asked members of four different groups she mentors to pick a flower they feel best represents them. She then asked me to create four different gardens so she could give them to the members of the groups. Since I love all flowers, it was a fun project! A lot of work, but fun. :-)
I sure hope I can get some flowers planted this year!

Life Book 2013 Week 3 - Flowers
The lesson for week 3 in Life Book 2013 was about how to create 3 D flowers using aluminum foil and tissue paper. The lesson was taught by Christy Tomlinson. Unfortunately, the 3 D flowers did not allow the scanner to scan properly, so this picture is blurry. It's one of the most favorite things I've done in any of the Life Book classes, and I wish I could have posted a better image of it. Oh well. At least this is real mixed-media! : )

Funeral Is Over
My mother's funeral was yesterday, and everything went beautifully. I took a picture of the floral arrangement we bought, because my mother loved flowers of any kind, and I wanted a keepsake. The picture was taken from a cheap phone camera. The colors are pretty, though. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, support and prayers during this time.
