The words are from a children's story I wrote a while ago. I sent it to a few publishers, but didn't get any bites on it. I've always loved stories written for children. Maybe one day I'll get enough gumption to send the stories I've written out again. I guess rejection letters are better than no letters at all!

I love your poem, Bill, and the touch of magenta is a winner---as is the story. Keep trying! I'm told writers have to get used to rejection and just persevere.
Bill, this is a fantastic entry to "childhood". I was such a reader as a child. Like you, I could visit China, India, or Normandy and never leave home. Your poem is wonderful. I'd try again to see if you can't get your stories published. A new bunch of editors might take a better look. PS. sorry you lost your pix in a flood. that's awful.

Keep trying, Bill. I am sometimes appalled for what passes as a children's book because many are boring and not aimed at appropriate age groups. I find that I have to change the stories as I go along because some adult writers don't even try to get inside the head of a four-year-old.
