Oh my. Maybe I shouldn't try creating anything when I have a headache!

Steampunk Class Week 2
I was having trouble trying to photograph this butterfly. I'm still trying to get use to the camera on my iPhone. I finally put it in some sun and stood it on its side. (It's a cigar box.) The wings stand up a bit when you are looking at it in real life. Creating it was an adventure! Big difference from creating digital pictures.
I tried taking another picture, and this may be better. :O)

Homage to Seth Apter's Work
If you have visited Seth Apter's blog, you know he likes to create mixed media works containing hands. I found this hand in Marta Van Eck's kit named "Arts Sake" and had to try creating one digitally. :o)

Steampunk Class by Kelly Hoernig
If you've been visiting my blog for a while, you know I love steampunk. I found a class presented by Kelly Hoernig who is teaching five projects that include steampunk elements.
This first week lesson was painting a cheap composition notebook to give it the look of leather, and add an animal and some gears and things to give it a steampunk look. Kelly actually demonstrated painting a squirrel, but I wanted to use a mouse instead. I'm really happy with the way my notebook turned out! It definitely doesn't look like a drugstore composition notebook.

Life Book 2013 - Week 5
Kelly Hoernig has been the instructor for week 5 of Life Book 2013. She had us think of a map that contained obstacles but also good things that would keep us moving forward during this year. She also wanted us to choose a word that would be our word to concentrate on for the entire year. I already chose that word for the Art Journal Caravan 2013. My word for this year is "hope." As usual, my mixed media piece ended up being crazy, but as my new motto says, "Aim for the concept, not the reality."
